Conference Funding

Student Run Conference at YLS

Funding for student-run conferences is allocated during the spring semester of the preceding academic year. Student-run conference funding is separate from and independent of funds allocated to support student organization and journal activities/business.

Student-run conference organizers may wish to seek co-sponsorship of a speaker or panel from another Yale department, school, or group, including YLS student groups, as appropriate.  Please be sure to notify Adrienne Lucas when such partnerships have been secured to determine the best way to receive those funds. See the main page on Student-Run Conferences to learn about eligibility requirements and the application process.

Attending a Conference

Limited funds are available to groups wishing to send one representative to one regional conference. These funds can only be obtained by specific approval. A detailed written proposal should be submitted by the budget officer of the group in advance of the conference to Sachi Sugimoto Rodgers. Please note that students attending conferences will be expected to cover their own food expenses as well as any “late” registration fees (i.e., only the lowest available registration fee  - early bird and regular registration - will be reimbursed). Generally, no more than one representative from a given group per year may request funding to attend a conference (though student organizations may supplement conference funding with their own organization funds).
